Accident. Murder. Evan must navigate the drugs, debts, and relationships he inherits after his twin brother is killed. Darkly visceral, strangely intimate and set to a deeply emotional score, “Wearing Black” trespasses into of the hearts and minds of those left behind and demands to know what place love has in death.

Very dark and powerful show. The fast was extremely talented and truly channeled the emotion which this play intended to evoke.

I loved this show. Loved. The songs were absolutely entrancing. This Riley guy sure knows how to write a power ballad! The story was completely original and, although tragic, interesting and dynamic. I especially loved how Riley told the stories of people who aren't represented in musical theatre often. The character who had her life most together was heavy-set. This trait was written into the show and was inspiring in that it's rare to find a part written for a chubby girl that doesn't dumb her down or poke fun at her. I also loved that the character I enjoyed the most was a drug addict. He displayed her in a truly human sense and made us empathize with her instead of judge her. Riley Thomas is extremely gifted, both as a musician and story-teller. I can't wait to see what happens in his future.

The acting was GREAT. The story and music and words were all in place, but the best thing about this show was I couldn't help but wonder what it could be like with money. Obviously it was very low budget but it was so good compared to so much other stuff I see on and off broadway I wanted so much more for it. I hope this show continues because I am DYING TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS IN ACT TWO!

What more would you desire? Within a hour of powerful, almost non stop beautiful, entrancing, and emotional music comes a devistating and raw story dealing with love, drugs, sex, violence and grief. If there is only one show to see at this years Frigid Fest it is definitly Wearing Black. The Cast is amazing. The Writing is Real. I have had the music from this show stuck in my head all weekend as if they were pop songs, but they are so far from that. I might go see it again just to learn some of the lyrics and see the girl who played Kristin again.

Date night! Boyfriend brought me here in support of a friend in the show and I was beyond impressed. Wearing Black really took everything you know about a musical and turned it on its back. Everything from the dialogue to the songs really grabs you in the heart with streamlined emotions that we all are afraid to face when dealing with death. I like to think I'm tough when it comes to these things but I wasn't. I cried twice and it felt damn good. Bravo for the cast. And if this review holds any merit let it be known that the director of the show Riley Thomas is going to be a force in entertainment if this is the art he wants to show the world.
