3 Theaters, 12 Days, 29 Theater Companies, and 163 performances...

This March, Horse TRADE was honored to debut FRIGID New York - the first stop on the 2007 North American Fringe Cicuit. FRIGID New York was proudly produced in association with San Francisco’s EXIT Theatre (home of the San Francisco Fringe; the second oldest fringe in the USA).

FRIGID New York represented the first ever CAFF-sanctioned festival in New York City. As a celebration of indie theater tailored to support the artist, the artistic freedom of the FRIGID New York participating artists was entirely uncensored. FRIGID Participants kept 100% of their box office, in a venue that was all about freedom of expression and artistic determination.

FRIGID New York Artists did a great job.  Some of them will continue to do so throughout the summer and well into Fall on the 2007 North American Fringe Circuit.

If you are anywhere near a fringe festival this summer, then you should really check it out.  Shows are short and cheap, and the variety is amazing.  The best way to get the inside scoop on which shows are best is either  to be a volunteer or to ask a volunteer.

Almost half of this years participants traveled g from San Francisco, Berkley, Boulder, Ontario, Victoria, Toronto (sometimes pronounced Toranno), Winnipeg, Barcelona and London; not to mention some of the most established New York indie companies; and they brought in solo performances, improv, sketch, Vaudeville, original comedies, dramas, unclassifiables and Flamenco.

Here in New York City, the undisputed Mecca of theater, we were proud to host a new opportunity for ingenuity to thrive and for theater Artists from all over the world to come together and exchange ideas, stories, drinks and whatever else they had.  A BIG Thanks to everyone who had a hand in it.
