The Playwright :

Christie is a writer, director and producer. Her published novels include Regular Coffee and Revolutions Per Minute. She wrote and produced Pretty Debris in 2006, as well as wrote, produced and directed Kings Highway in 2005 and Carnival Girls in 2004. Her work has appeared in Jane Magazine and Woman’s World. Christie was born in Oswego, NY and is a graduate of Wells College. Currently, she lives and works in Manhattan.

The Cast:

Charmaine Broad

Charmaine Broad is an accomplished actress of stage, screen & TV.  “Blood Turnip” is her third Christie Perfetti play, having appeared in the well-received NYC premieres of both “King’s Highway” and “Regular Coffee.”  She is featured in the current releases of the films, “The Enchanting Box,” “Bob’s Blind Date,” and “Bonus Round.”  Most recently, Charmaine appeared in the one-woman show written exclusively for her, “Grand Central…Or a Day in the Life of a Terminal,” where she played (7) different women in NYC’s Grand Central Terminal.  The property is currently being developed for a Cable-TV special.  As a director, Charmaine has directed P.S. 321’s “The Theatre Workshop, the pilot “Happy Hour TV.Com,” and is currently represented in NYC’s Teaspoon Festival with “No Prune,” running in late March 2007 at The Producers Club.

Roxanne Kapitsa

Roxanne is delighted to be sharing the stage with Christie Perfetti's theatrical family once again. Her previous experiences with them have been extraordinary. Of late, she has been performing in ESL classrooms in the role of a teacher, and is currently earning her M.A. in Teaching English as a Second Language. She wants to thank Christie for bringing her back to the theater. She also wants to wish everyone involved with the show the best of experiences!!!

Lynn Mancinelli (actor, dancer and visual artist) received her B.A. in Theatre & Dance from Manhattanville College. Most recently, she performed with Axis Company in the production "Hospital 2006." Also in 2006, Lynn played the lead character, Ginny, in Christie Perfetti's staged version of her novel Regular Coffee. In
addition she completed six short films and the feature films "American Standard", "Boy In A Bathtub," "The Life After" and "Endure." Lynn also works continuously and is a founding member of the movement theatre group "Theatre In The Flesh." She is delighted to work with Christie and the gang again.

Melanie Furjanic

A classically trained dancer with a BS in Theatre/Dance from Kansas State University, Melanie has studied acting technique in New York with Kathryn Rossetter (NYU), Michael Beckett (HB Studios), and Angie Montalbano. She has been seen in supporting roles in Christie Perfetti's productions of Carnival Girls and Kings Highway, and most recently played the lead role of Shannon Calvert in Perfetti's Pretty Debris. Melanie has studied dance intensively with Ballet Dallas, The Daring Project, and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.  She has performed with, choreographed for, and was a founding member of NYC 's award winning Peyari Dance Project. Joshua Seidner

Joshua Seidner's most recent credits include 'The Cellar' at Henry Street Settlement and the upcoming web series 'The Prisoner.' 'Blood Turnip' happily marks his second occasion of working with Ms. Perfetti. NYC Theatre: 'Temple' (Manhattan Theatre Source), 'Vuillard's Room' (NY Fringe Festival), 'Fool' (Gorilla Repertory Theatre), and 'Shattered' (American Theater of Actors) as well as productions with Theatre Mitu, Performing Artists Circle, and City Attic Theatre, among others. Film: British Film Council's 'Man Alive,' 'Day on Fire,' 'Love and Disaster,' 'Jailbait,' 'Jersey Guy.' Joshua holds a B.A. in Theatre from Bard College.

David Davoli

David Davoli is the managing partner in the New York City based production company Fraternal Artists where he stays busy developing and acting in projects for film, television and theater.  He most recently produced the short film Tracks of Color, directed by Federico Castelluccio, which he will be producing as a feature film later this year.  David has also produced several other film and theater projects including Brando From The Neck Down, Welcome To Collinwood Uncensored for Warner Bros. and the off-Broadway production of Israel Horovitz's The Indian Wants The Bronx.  David will also produce and act in Fraternal Artists next project, the feature film Lazarus. Over the past ten years David has also studied professionally with some of New York Cities most renowned acting teachers.  Most recently he trained with the famed LAByrinth Theater Company whose members include John Ortiz, Stephen Adly Guirgis, John Patrick Shanley, Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Sam Rockwell.  Prior to that, David spent a year at the Stella Adler Conservatory under the guidance of renowned Stella Adler apprentice Ron Burrus.  David also spent time developing his craft at The Actor's Center and Center Stage NY.In 2001, David made his Off-Broadway debut playing Joey in the revival of Israel Horovitz's Obie award winning play The Indian Wants The Bronx.  In 2006 David acted in the off-Broadway Productions of King's Highway and Man of Zoo.  David has also acted in several independent films including Jay Lowi's Brando From The Neck Down, Roey Herzog's The Neighbor, Valentina Caniglia's Dreamtime and Kobi Shelly's Tales From The Box.
