“Super Glossy!” is a one-woman satire on women’s magazines where Cosmopolitan (the magazine and the drink – 3 or 4 of them) meets The Stepford Wives meets The Venture Bros.  It’s feminist sci-fi conspiracy theory theatre at it’s most brash and hilarious-est.   I think I’m in my own genre.

Courtney McLean

Courtney McLean's solo performance work "accomplishes the highest moral function of theatre: to promote understanding" (DC Theatre Reviews) as well as totally nerding out on stage.  Courtney's first show, "Normal-C" debuted in San Diego to sold-out houses in 2002 (after the discovery that auditioning for other people's stupid plays sucks) and was toured to Washington, DC and Minneapolis, MN last summer after a stint at the Triad in NYC.  Her new show, "Super Glossy!" a sci-fi satire on women's magazines, will debut at FRIGID New York in March in preparation for flight across the nation this summer.

Praise for McLean's previous work

”McLean tears at breakneck speed through a universe full of colorful characters engaged in activities which, however unusual onstage, should bring a shock of recognition to her adult audience.”
“McLean is searingly candid, and so accomplishes the highest moral function of theater: to promote understanding.”

“Best to check this one out in person before Courtney gets her big HBO contract.”
“Courtney McLean is a redheaded tornado of energy spewing uniquely descriptive bits about 7th grade, sex, love, virginity, life in the 'burbs, true friendship, bizarre parents, her fabulous rack, and other consistenly funny rantings and ravings about growing up in the 1980s. One of this year's best solo shows.”
“You may need a cigarette [sic] afterwards.”
