A high-octane and high-glucose ride though the world of non-partisan political satire, as seen by “stand-up performance artist” Jonathan Pereira. American Cake is a startlingly refreshing blend of personal and political comedy that not only entertains, but makes you think. It’s Red, Blue, and Green friendly… it's a rare piece of modern political theatre that's not about bashing Bush.

Even better... free cake at every show!

What they Say about it

"[Pereira is] smart... he has a gift for interweaving personal and political comedy with unforced skill"
-- Orlando City Beat

“...a mesmerizing performer with a gift for physical comedy and the courage to structure a monologue in a highly unconventional manner."
-- Chicago Reader

"American Cake is a clever satire..."
-- SEE Magazine

"... writer-performer Jonathan Pereira has charm in spades-not to mention insight, a willingness to go deeper and an ability not to take it all too seriously... [he] doesn't use the cliche, or the reactionary, or the antireactionary, but makes a very personal journey, finding the universal in the specific while pitching to his audience as intellectual equals. His manic-but-unforced style... creates a momentum that may just make you stick around for dessert."
--Time Out Chicago
