Olga and Björn host this entirely unpredictable (yet lovingly delightful) production that features audience tampering, two wildly comic ExcessoMimes (Gluttony and Lust), an outlandish game of Operation (you're the doctor!™), video and audio montage, tap dancing, outrageous fun and mild-nudity.

To the delight of their audience, Olga and Björn channel cameo appearances by world eating champion Kobayashi and his furry opponent the Alaskan Cruncher. Things get downright steamy when they play a filthy game of Twister.

The spectacle explores contemporary excess and media culture and combines elements of burlesque, physical theater, potty humor and clown.

The Cast and crew

Coconspirator, Role of Olga
Kristin Arnesen is the cofounder of Theatre Reverb where she has been developing new multidisciplinary works since 2006. Her favorite roles as a performer include: ‘Olga’ in Theatre Reverb’s Olga’s Secret Circus: An Evening of Mischief, Bon Bons and Debauchery (2006); ‘Whisper Chorus’ Mabou Mines: Red Beads (2005); and ‘Cowgirl,’ The Showdown (a dumb show) (2004). She earned her undergraduate degree in theatre performance at Marymount Manhattan College in 2003, and since then she has been collaborating on and performing in original works, including clowning and pantomime pieces. She is currently an MA candidate at Hunter College, and recently returned from India where she studied kathakali in Cheruthuruthy and presented a paper at a theatre conference in Thrissur. She would like to thank her coconspirators at Theatre Reverb for their generous contributions of their time, dedication and creativity, and Frigid New York for the opportunity to present their work!

Coconspirator, Video, Sound, Operator 1
Radosław Konopka is a video artist, sound designer and audio engineer.  He came to the United States in 1994 and later received his BA from the CUNY Baccalaureate Program.  He is the co-founder of Theatre Reverb and helped to create the company’s productions Olga’s Secret Circus (2006), An Act of GluttoMime (2007) and the group’s ongoing experiments in video, moving image and spectacle. He recently returned from India where he studied kathakali at Kalamandalam in Cheruthuruthy, Kerala.  Radek would like to thank his coconspirators at Theatre Reverb and Frigid New York for helping to bring about this production.

Coconspirator, Role of Björn
Christopher Thomas Gilkey. Mr. Gilkey recently received his B.F.A. in acting from Brooklyn College. His favorite roles include: ‘Björn’ in Olga's Secret Circus (Theatre Reverb); ‘Malcolm’ in Macbeth (Bakerloo Theatre Project); ‘Goldwyn’ in Pride (Riante Theatre); ‘Beau’ in Asleep on the Wind (Brooklyn College). He would like to thank his family, his co-conspirators at Theatre Reverb and Frigid New York for this opportunity.

Operator 2, Rachel Gilkey
Rachael W. Gilkey lives in Brooklyn.  After completing a (probably very lucrative) Master's in Irish Literature in Galway, Ireland, she moved here to write about, listen to and generally soak up New York City.
Choreography and Movement Consultant
Miranda Zukowski is a theatre graduate from Florida State University. She has more than seventeen years of dance training in ballet, tap, jazz and acrobatics, and also taught dance for five years. She is currently a personal trainer on the Upper East Side. Her favorite roles include ‘April’ in Company, and ‘Helena’ in a Midsummer Night’s Dream. She has been collaborating with Theatre Reverb since 2006 and is happy to be working with them on their latest project.

Theatre Reverb is a New York based multidisciplinary company founded by video artist Radosław Konopka and theatre artist Kristin Arnesen with the mission of developing new work and collaborative pieces. Since its creation, the company has brought together artists of a variety of different media to create unique experiments in performance moving image and spectacle. In the summer of 2006, the company presented audiences on New York's Lower East Side with its first full-length production, Olga’s Secret Circus: An Evening of Mischief, Bon Bons and Debauchery.  The production and the company were featured on the Polsat, Polish television network’s program Faces of America (Oblicza Ameryki), making the company members very minor celebrities around Greenpoint, Brooklyn and certain villages in Poland. Since Olga’s Secret Circus, Theatre Reverb has produced a series of video collaborations, and has been developing new performance pieces featuring theater artists Christopher Gilkey and Kristin Arnesen, the sound and image experiments of Radoslaw Konopka, including ExcesSecret Circus: “¿Guess What ‘It’s’ About?” at Frigid New York, as well as a production of Sławomir Mrożek’s Foxhunt which is set to premier in New York this spring. The company is currently working towards their goal of obtaining much needed funding, and towards their mission to continue to reach new audiences.
