Camouflage: Who? -We all do it. What? -Disguise reality. Why? -Because it's easier. When? -Often. Where? -Everywhere. This one-woman play explores the dangers of camouflaging the truth, especially from yourself. Humour, pathos, raucous, gut wrenching, you'll laugh, you'll cry, it's better than sex.

As we journey through life, how many of us hide within ‘tangled webs’ of deception?  In her new play, CAMOUFLAGE, writer and actress Gail Roberts explores the pain of self-deception, and discovers it’s not as grim as she thought.  In fact, the lengths we go to deceive ourselves can be downright funny…if it didn’t hurt so much!

Camouflage — With understated elegance, this one–woman retrospective explores the lies we tell others and ourselves. Writer/performer Gail Roberts looks back on her life while brilliantly portraying many of the characters she encounters. Poignant writing along with smooth performance and direction make for a lovely show from this Toronto company. [JSB]

Cast and Crew

Gail Roberts – Writer/Performer -- This is Gail’s first appearance in New York, and she is very happy that it is in her production of CAMOUFLAGE.  As we know, roles disappear for the older actor, especially for women.  Gail aims to craft plays for the more seasoned audience as well as to create work for more mature actors.  Gail also wrote and performed in FALLING IN LOVE AGAIN, the story of Marlene Dietrich, which was produced in Toronto.  Gail’s stage work includes The Daughters of Sheherzad, The Effects of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds, Wedding Band, The Stronger, and Covey Farm Road, to name but a few.  Film and television credits include The Listener, The Clock Is Ticking, Zen Turkey, and Life on Venus Ave.
